Backstage with the Theatre Seven of Chicago
Chicago.
The Lincoln and Belden neighborhood is a few blocks from the lake, within half a mile of several great parks, easy to find via public transportation, has a little bit of night life going on, and is turning in to a great theatre corridor on the north side. Oz Park is right around the corner, Kim & Scott's makes incredible bagels, and its a lively and fun place to walk around and feel Chicago.
We believe in new work, we believe in creating a healthy and professional environment in which our artists create and our audiences experience, we believe in community, we believe in diversity, we believe in compensating artists as well as we possibly can for their time and talents, we believe in our audience, we believe in ourselves, we believe in Chicago.
It hasn't happened yet.
We chose the name Theatre Seven because there were seven founding members, and we felt it spoke to ensemble and community. We wanted a name that would say something about us without trying too hard or being pretentious. And the number is lucky in some cultures...we figured we'd need some of that.
