Redtwist Theatre
MISSION: To do white hot drama, in a tiny black box, with a little red twist.
White hot drama that packs emotional force, examines moral dilemmas, and reveals greater truths…
in a tiny black box specifically tailored for every show, closing the gap between actor and audience …
with a little red twist in concept and design that is intimate, comfortable, and safe, yet intense, edgy, and thrilling, at a distance only inches away.

We used to be Actors Workshop Theatre--a name that confused everyone. While receiving grant-writing training, the consultant asked us what we ultimately wanted to do. Our Artistic Director, Michael Colucci, blurted out the phrase that became our mission statement. Our name is the last part of that statement. We do prefer Redtwist to be one word with the accent on the first syllable.
The Pillowman (2009-10) ran for 6 months and was nominated for four Jeff Awards (and won for best supporting actor). Runners up include All My Sons (2005) and Equus (2007 & 2010).
