Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University celebrates 125 years as Chicago’s Landmark Stage™. A structure without equal. The sweeping walls, the soaring ceiling, the gilt-edged grandeur... and of course, the stage itself. Over the years, legends have been born and made in our historic theatre - graced by former presidents, renowned opera singers, legendary rock stars, and prima ballerinas. The 125th Anniversary Season includes the “Made in Chicago” Dance Series, the “Made in Chicago” Music Series, Alvin Ailey American Dance, and The Royal Ballet. “We live this history. Join us.”

Legend has it that the theatre was built on a Native-American burial ground. Many believe, and some say they have seen, a Native-American ghost in full warfare garb in the theatre. The site of the theatre on sacred ground has caused many to believe the theatre has been cursed. In order to end the ups and downs of the theatre's success over the past 120 years, a cleansing was held to expel the ghost and curse.
