Oak Park Festival Theatre
35th Anniversary Kickoff
On March 12, Oak Park Festival Theatre will launch the year-long celebration of its 35th anniversary season with a "family celebration" of the 35 year long alliance between Oak Park Festival Theatre and the Village of Oak Park.
Thirty-five summers ago a troupe of very young performers, many of whom were allied with Saint Nicholas Theatre Company of Chicago, were recruited by Marion Karczmar to present a production of A Midsummers Night's Dream on Marion Street. This company included unknowns such as David Mamet and William H. Macy. Over the ensuing years, Oak Park Festival Theatre has become not only Oak Park's only resident professional (Actors' Equity Association) theatre but also the Midwest's oldest professional company presenting classic theatre out of doors.
The March 12th celebration in an historic private home in Oak Park will celebrate those 35 years of "for richer, for poorer" with toasting from an open bar, a preview of summer dining with a pre-season posh picnic, a silent auction of one of a kind items and traditional favorites, live music, and lively memories.
Benefit Date: March 12, 2010
General Admission: $35
