Audition Location: The Bailiwick Theatre 1229 West Belmont
Pay: No Pay
Equity / Non Equity:Non-Equity
Type / Restrictions: Chiaroscuro(A Study in Shadow)
Seeking a male (20s-30s) to play Caravaggio, the famed Renaissance painter who was as notorious for his violent temper as he was esteemed for his use of light and shadow, in CHIAROSCURO (A STUDY IN SHADOW), by Kenneth N. Kurtz. Self-indulgent and strong-willed, Caravaggio believes anything is excusable in the name of art. The production opens September 22nd. Note: This role involves full frontal nudity.
Anna Livia Lucky in Her Bridges
Seeking a female late 20's early 30's to portray Ellen, a woman on the verge of breaking down but manages to stay strong for her family.
Seeking a male late 20's early 30's African American to portray David a fast lover with no ties or cares to anyone.
Seeking a male early 20's to portray Barry, a young man who is eager to join the resistance and ready to defend what he believes in.
Seeking a male late 20's to portray Des a character who is uncertain of where he is in life, or even if he is alive at all. Des lives with a secret everywhere he goes that he wish no one will know.
ANNA LIVIA, LUCKY IN HER BRIDGES takes place in Dublin on the first Bloomsday, June 16, 1904. Ellen is about to lose her beau, James Joyce, to a lump of a girl from Galway. Des, her brother, is following his heart towards forbidden love. Barry, their young brother, wants to join the resistance. And the stranger David seeks illicit companionship under the dark bridges of the Liffey. In some ways, ANNA LIVIA, LUCKY IN HER BRIDGES is a ghost story. But at a deeper level, it is a chronicle of the endurance of love, and the ways in which God himself will intervene if the passion is deep enough, strange enough, and tenacious even beyond death.
And our third late night comic piece, "Filthy Pervert Seeks Same" by Stephen Dawson requires four funny males who are very comfortable with their bodies.
Time Commitment:August 18th to October 22nd
Material to Prepare: Two one minute contrasting monologues and three head shots and resumes. If you have a body shot, bring that as well.
