Type / Restrictions: Fifth House Ensemble, a Chicago-based chamber music group, is seeking actors for its interdisciplinary 3-concert series: "The Weaver's Tales." Working in collaboration with directors Rebekah Scallet and Lindsey Marks, each concert will feature physical theatre performance intermixed with live music, weaving together stories from classic fairy tales to create bold new presentations of timeless concepts. We are also working with fashion designers and video artists to add further dimension to each concert.
We are looking for versatile performers with experience in (or who are comfortable exploring) physical theatre, dance, or other movement-based theatrical expression. Our goal is to create a small ensemble of artists that will work with the directors & musicians on each concert in developing characters and physically telling the tales. We are looking for both male and female characters of open ethnicity, and broad age ranges.

Audition Location: We are putting together a seven person ensemble to explore texts about sleeping, dreaming and waking. This is a physical piece upon which we will overlay the text. It will be devised by the ensemble and director. Perofmrnaces will take place in Logan Square in September on Friday and Saturday nights. Time Commitment:We will be casting 4 productions each running 6 to 7 weekends. Rehearsals will typically be scheduled 5 to 8 weeks before opening weekend of each show. Rehearsals are usually some variation of Sunday through Thursday evenings. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm with pickup rehearsals on every Thursday night throughout the run.
Material to Prepare: Please prepare a short contemporary monologue and bring a head-shot / resume.
